Modular pull-out racks function similarly to supported pull-out racks, except that modular pull-out racks are mounted to a metal-support beam architecture, eliminating the need to install railing on the floor or ceiling of the storage area. This storage rack is optimal for smaller collections and frequently-changing storage areas, as they can be more easily dismantled and moved as needed.
Carriage-mounted racks are designed to fit other Spacesaver mobile storage units, such as ActivRAC and LEVRack. These units are designed to be operated electronically or manually, and are usually deeper and denser storage than a lateral, rail-mounted rack system.
Lateral art racks are rail-mounted art racks built with metal screening spread across two posts. These can be easily moved by hand to be slid against each other or opened for access.
Wall-mounted art racks are large grids of metal or mesh material, built with art hooks and secure fasteners to easily mount and unmount paintings and other spreads. Wall-mounted racks are the most simple of the racking systems, and are usually stationary
Both floor-supported and ceiling-supported pull-out art rack systems function very similarly to a lateral racking system, with rail-based rack guidance and ability to compartmentalize, however these slide out horizontally from the row, rather than moving forward and backward for access. Floor- or ceiling-supported racks are optimal for areas with dense floor plans, as their size is fixed and remains static, unlike a laterally-moving rail rack. Additionally, floor-supported pull-out racks can support a large amount of weight, making them the easy choice for heavier-framed art.
