Montel is proud to have participated in the Grande Bibliotheque project by supplying upscale cantilever library shelving and storage systems for the library’s collections.
With the novel amalgamation of the Grande Bibliotheque du Quebec and the Bibliotheque nationale du Quebec, the $141 million six-level state-of-the-art public library needed efficient storage solutions to house more than 4 million documents such as print documents, audiovisual documents, microforms, prints, fine bindings, etc.
The vast 33,000 meters square multifunctional public library needed to provide open and free access to more than 4 million documents, including one million books, while optimizing space utilization and easy access to secure and safe shelving systems that would stack Quebec’s national library collection.
Montel’s custom-design engineered solution involved the supply and installation of stationary library shelving exceeding space utilization needs and performance specifications. “Montel is very pleased to have provided the Grande Bibliotheque with its library shelving for the storage and filing of its library collections” said Montel’s President, Michel Doucet. “This notorious public library project allowed Montel to demonstrate its organizational capabilities and technical knowledge in providing custom-designed and innovative solutions that had to fulfill the Grande Bibliotheque’s specific needs”.
