MS 6000 Microform Scanner / Reader Printer
The MS 6000 is a PC-connectable microform scanner utilizing
standard Windows software to create digital images from microfilm
or microfiche. The MS 6000 is designed to connect to a PC via a
SCSI interface allowing electronic distribution of images by E-Mail
or saving to disk. Images may also be printed or stored into many
of today's leading imaging software systems.
Efficient Distribution - Images can be distributed to requestors
immediately through E-Mail or electronic fax and can also be stored
to a diskette or a server hard drive. Information will be received
faster and can be viewed by any TIFF viewer, which are included
with most Windows desktop software.
Dual Output - The MS 6000 can be configured to scan to a
PC and scan and print to a dedicated Minolta printer. The
Minolta printer allows quick first printing speed and high quality
prints at up to 600 dpi.
Enhanced Image Quality - Scanning at up to 800 DPI allows
a higher quality image to be captured to assure high quality image
output. A photo mode is available to improve photograph image quality
while halftone options provide flexibility in scanning difficult
images. Automatic Exposure helps adjust the brightness to the selected
image.
Grayscale Images - The optional grayscale board captures
images at 256 levels of grayscale to enhance low quality film images.
Simple TWAIN Interface
Easy Operation - Utilizing a TWAIN interface, the MS 6000
can initiate a scan from a host of leading software applications.
To simplify operation, Mid-America Business Systems has developed
Easy Scan and Print Software (ESP+)
to allow walk-up scanning with basic commands that can be controlled
by the mouse or on a touch screen monitor. ESP+ software provides
a simple way to scan microfilm or microfiche images into files that
can be printed, saved to a disk, or e-mailed. Other advantages of
ESP+ include:
- Customized startup screen (for logo/instructions)
- Software can be configured
to run in full screen with password needed to minimize or close
program or with other application software.
- On-line help for users to reduce staff intervention.
- Large icons, buttons, labeled for ease-of-use.
- Zoom-in/Zoom-out controls for whole image plus magnification
of selected area.
- Ability to page through folder for verification.
- Images are saved to a folder in a multi-page tiff format. After
each scan, operators have the option to darken or lighten the
image without rescanning.
- Distribution options include printing, saving to disk or sending
via e-mail.
- Email requires only email address entry (link to email is done
in the background).
Low Cost Operation - Creating digital images eliminates
the need to print to paper lowering cost required for toner and
paper.
MS 6000 Additional Features
Automatic Skew Correction - Automatically straighten images
that are skewed for ease of use.
Automatic Bi-mode - Selects positive or negative film polarity
by reading the film image providing the best scan the first time.
Automatic Mask Mode - User can select whether to enable
Masking and Centering to eliminate unwanted borders and create the
right image in one scan.
Brightness and Contrast
As with other machines, these selections allow the user to adjust
exposure levels as well as the ability to select auto-exposure.
Sample TWAIN Interface
The driver comes bundled with a very basic scan-to-file application.
This application allows the user to scan and store images delivered
from the MS 6000 like any other connected TWAIN scanner.
Job Recall - Up to 6 job recall memory settings may be programmed
for easy adjustment to different film types and output needs.
Digital
Zoom - An electronic zoom feature allows a 50% reduction and
up to 200% enlargement.
Dual Scanners To One Printer - Two MS 6000 Scanners may
be connected to one Minolta printer providing more access stations
while lowering costs and saving space.
